These days, it’s hard to have fun with your family and friends while maintaining social distance. That’s why I’ve put together a step-by-step guide to help you host your own virtual game night…and it’s easier than you might think!
Virtual Game Nights
Having a virtual game night is a great way to reconnect with your loved ones during these trying times. Technology has made it incredibly simple to find games that you’ll love…and you don’t even have to be tech-savvy to get started right away. Here’s how it works.
Step 1: Pick a Game
There are plenty of different ways to host a virtual game night, but mobile apps make it easy! There are thousands of games you can pick from that let you play with other people who have the app downloaded.
You can easily find a game to suit any of your interests. There are classic favorites, such as Monopoly or The Game of Life, card games, like Uno or multiplayer Solitaire, and any other kind of game you can think of.
Step 2: Invite Your Family and Friends
Next, you’ll want to download the app and start inviting people! You’ll probably have to go through a quick tutorial on how the game is played before you can start bringing in your loved ones.
In most cases, the game will be able to connect to your social media accounts, so you can invite your Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram friends to play. Other times, the game will give you a link that you can text to everyone. Either way, your loved ones will need to download the game to get started.
Step 3: Play the Game
The easiest (and most fun) step is actually playing the game! Once everything is downloaded, get your family and friends on the app and start having fun. A lot of apps have in-game chat box features, so you can type and talk to each other while playing.
If you can, try setting up a phone or video call with everyone before opening the app. Doing this lets everyone talk while you’re playing…just make sure to use a pair of headphones or put the call on speakerphone!
