Summer is almost here, and it’s time to get your home ready for the new season! Preparing your home for summer is one of the best things to do while you wait for the warmer days to finally arrive. And let’s be honest — summer decor is fun and colorful, too!
Your Guide to Sprucing Up Your Space with Summer Decor
Think about what summer means to you. For most people, it means trips to the beach and more time spent outdoors. You can take those ideas and bring them inside your home to add an extra dose of sunshine and smiles. Here are the five best ways you can bring summer inside this season.
1. Bring on the white space
White space during summer, when paired with open windows, looks clean and fresh…it’s the perfect way to draw sunshine in your home! It also feels light and refreshing compared to the heavy, dark colors that are more popular in winter. Color is still good, but the more lighter colors, the better!
2. Incorporate splashes of bold colors
Creating spaces with bright colors, like pastels or gem tones, will energize your home. It can also help to jazz up all that white space! If you aren’t sure where to start, try setting out a bowl of fruit or updating a picture frame with some brightly colored paint. Be careful, though—it’s easy to overdue it with colorful hues, so make sure to not add too much and overwhelm your space.
3. Get some fresh curtains
Flowy curtains are the perfect addition to every home, especially when the sun starts coming out. Lighter curtains will also make your home feel bright and airy, and when the sun is out and the AC is on, you’ll appreciate the lighter atmosphere. Plus, they’re perfect for letting in as much natural light as possible during the daytime!
4. Bring the outside in
If you really want to embrace summer, try to bring little pieces of nature inside. For most people, this looks like fresh flower arrangements or some greenery, which can also add a bold pop of color. If you live by the coast, or just love the beach, then you can also decorate by using shells or coral designs!
5. Change your lampshade
You might not think about it, but your lampshade can have a pretty big impact on your space. You can switch out darker or neutral shades in favor of a brighter color, like teal, purple, or even white. Most lampshades can be easily changed, but make sure yours can be switched before purchasing a new one.
